‘Ello, friends!
It’s been a while, hasn’t it? I apologize! I’ve missed blogging consistently, and I’m really hoping to get back in the swing of it soon!
I’ve got a fun post for you all today! I was tagged twice for the Mystery Blogger Award, once by the wonderful Kenechi and once by the lovely Madeleine.

Let’s jump in!
Here are the rules…
- Put the award logo/image on your blog.
- Thank whoever nominated you and provide a link to their blog. (THANK YOU, Kenechi and Madeleine! *points up for links*)
- Mention the creator of the award and provide a link as well. (This award was created by Okoto Enigma.)
- Answer the 5 questions you were asked.
- Tell your readers 3 things about yourself.
- Nominate 10-20 people.
- Notify your nominees by commenting on their blogs. (I decided to link to each of my nominees’ most recent posts instead.)
- Ask your nominees any 5 questions of your choice; with one weird or funny question.
- Share a link to your best post(s).
I shall start with the questions from Kenechi:
1. (for fun) What is the craziest (aka stupid) thing you’ve done ( i’m not trying to roast anyone, because heaven knows i’ve done my fair share of stupid things 😂)?
My siblings and parents always tease me about a time when I was eating applesauce and said, “This applesauce tastes kind of weird. It tastes like…applesauce.” No, I wasn’t making a joke. I was totally serious and just couldn’t think of anything to compare the taste of the applesauce to.
Is this the stupidest thing I’ve done? Nope. But I don’t really have any I can remember that I care to share. 🙂
2. How many books in a series is too many?
Hmm…hard question. It depends on how good the series is! XD The longest series I’ve read (the Red Rock Mysteries) consists of fifteen books, and I didn’t want them to end!! But usually, I’d say that six or less is plenty.
3. If you were in a movie what kind of movie would you want it to be?
Ooh, well, my favorite movies are The Lord of the Rings, the Narnia movies, Star Wars, The Hobbit movies, and the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies. So I would want to be in an intriguing movie full of lovable characters, journeys to different lands (or planets), and fight scenes. It’s hard to decide whether I would want to be in a science fiction movie (like an MCU movie) or a fantasy movie (like The Lord of the Rings)! 😉
4. Favorite potato chip flavor?
Regular. XD Just the regular potato chip flavor with oil a tiny bit of salt…mmm. But if you’re actually asking about a flavor, then it would be salt and vinegar. They do make your lips sting, but they’re still fantastic. 😀
5. Nighttime road trips or daytime road trips?
Daytime road trips, for sure. Night driving usually sees me really tired. During the day, I like to listen to audiobooks/audio dramas, watch movies, talk with those in the vehicle with me, and just watch the landscape go by.
And now for the questions from Madeleine…
1. If you could pick one picture from your camera roll to keep forever, which one would it be and why?
At the moment, my camera roll does not actually have that many pictures on it. But if I had to choose one from the ones that I have, it would be a picture of my dad, my sister, and me because I would always want to have a picture with my family members in it. ❤
2. Do you name random objects? If so, which is your favorite one? (my computer’s name is Finnigan and my little succulent’s name is Edgar)
Aren’t her names absolutely awesome? 😀
I honestly don’t do this a lot, but my cousins, siblings, and I name a lot of different things “Bob” whenever we’re being goofy. XD
3. What are the books you learned the most from (one fiction and one non-fiction)?
Just ONE of each??
I’d have to say that the fiction book that has taught me the most is The Lord of the Rings. This was my first big venture into the wide world of fantasy about eight years ago, and I’ve loved it ever since. The Lord of the Rings demonstrates true courage, sacrifice, friendship, wisdom, perseverance, love, and so many other important things. Every time I reread or rewatch these books or movies, I’m struck by the richness of the world, characters, and themes.
For nonfiction, the Bible is an unending, undiminishing treasure. It is the inspired word of God, given to us to learn more about His character, His desires for us, and so much more. Other than the Bible…I honestly don’t read that much nonfiction. Of what I have read, though, I would probably say This Changes Everything by Jaquelle Crowe (now Ferris). It is a convicting, coherent, and amazing book written to youth from a teenager. Jaquelle shares accessible, easy ways to grow as a follower of Jesus and encourages youth to take their faith seriously even while they’re young. This book has been a blessing to my life, and even though it’s technically written to teenagers, I’d recommend it to anyone who wants a clear exhortation to live a life changed in every way as a committed follower of Christ, whatever it takes.
4. Thoughts on coffee? Yes/no?
DEFINITELY YES. I love hot coffee, iced coffee, lattes, blended coffee…many things coffee-flavored are delicious.
5. How do you get yourself out of a writing rut?
I listen to inspiring music, watch amazing movies, and read books. Even if the movies or books just get me writing fanfiction, it helps drag me out of that slippery-sided trench that’s sometimes so easy to slid into. It inspires me, gets my creative juices flowing again, and often it gets me pumped up about writing the story that I love. Even after writing fanfiction, I’ve practiced writing something short, off to the side without any stress, and have flexed my writing muscles again.
6. What are your top three favorite songs right now?
I thought this would be really hard, but I actually thought of about three songs right off the bat.
- “Sons of Odin” by Patrick Doyle, from the Thor soundtrack (I’ve been listening to some of the MCU soundtracks a lot recently; they’re helpful for concentration when I’m studying or trying to block out background noise, and they’re also just so amazing and impressive. The soundtrack from Thor has been my favorite so far, and “Sons of Odin” is such lovely song, making you think of Thor and Loki and what their relationship should have remained. 🙂 )
- “His Mercy is More” by the Gettys (This has been one of my absolute favorite songs for a long time. The lyrics just hammer home how good and merciful our God is, to love and save us sinful little humans. Such a wonderful song.)
- “Shepherd” by CityAlight (This song is such a wonderful reminder. “Though I walk through the valley…I will not be afraid…I know my Shepherd is all I need.” Even in the midst of the valley of the shadow of death, even in the midst of a terrifying coronavirus pandemic, our Shepherd walks beside us. Comforts us. Gives us peace.)
Now for three things about me…
1. I’m five feet, seven inches tall.
2. One of my favorite parts of creation, if not my favorite, is the sky. Sunrises, sunsets, the stars, the clouds…every time I look at the sky, I feel awe.
3. I have both glasses and contacts, but I normally wear my glasses.

To my nominees, no pressure at all to do this tag if you’d rather not. 🙂
Your questions, my noble receivers of this glimmering award, if you decide to accept it, are…
- (for fun) Do you view water as a necessary and even delicious beverage or as a substance that must be avoided at all costs?
- What is your favorite book(s) of the Bible?
- Do you have a favorite (or a few favorite) movie soundtrack(s)?
- What is your favorite board game?
- What is your favorite trilogy?
Thanks for reading everyone! I hope you who do this tag have fun with it! I certainly did. 😀
A quick note before I sign off: The world has really gone crazy since last time I posted. Schools are closed. Movie theaters are closed. Many churches are closed. Restaurants are closed. Toilet paper and canned goods have vanished from the shelves, and many of us are at home for the time being. I don’t know why this pandemic has exploded on our world, but I know that God is in control. He is still sovereign. He is still good. I’m praying for our world every day, and I think of you all when I do. God is still Lord in the midst of terrifying times just as he is in the comfortable.
Do you have any good nonfiction recommendations for me? How are you holding up in the midst of this corona-craziness? How can I pray for you? Let me know in the comments!
Congrats!
To be honest, I’m not holding up well with this craziness!

Hii Amelie!! 💚💚 I haven’t talked to you in forever!
How have you been? How is school going?
I love all the MCU soundtracks, but my favorite is probably the Age of Ultron one.
Wow, you join the ranks of people who are taller than I am. Which is pretty much everyone I know. 😆
Thank you for tagging me! I’ll definitely do it, although I might not have internet for a few weeks. (We’re supposed to be closing on our new house tomorrow, but we don’t *technically* move until next month.)
I’m really scared that I won’t be able to see my friends again before we leave because of this whole mess, so if you could pray that I would trust that God has a plan, I would really appreciate it.💙
Are there any specific ways I can be praying for you and your family?

I fall into the avoiding-water category 😆
Okay, this just reminded me that some friends and I used to call this cabinet of theirs Bob. Like, instead of “the cabinet.” 🤣 “Where is such-and-such, oh, it’s in Bob.” 🤣 Totally forgotten that until I read this!!

That is funny!! XD Yeah, I feel like the go-to name for random objects always tends to be “Bob.” XD

Hiii Amelie! 😁I haven’t talked to you in forever!
Have you read Ember’s End yet? I haven’t, because I’ve been in Georgia for a few weeks at our new house, and it got delivered to our old one. We’re going down there Wednesday to finish packing, so I’ll get to read it then.:D
Thanks for tagging me!
Oh look, you’ve joined the list of people taller than me. Which is pretty much everyone I know. 😆
I love all of the Marvel soundtracks, but I think my favorite it the Age Of Ultron one. I love the tracks with the original Avengers theme mixed with the main theme of the movie.

Audrey!!!!! Hi friend!!! ❤ I am SO SO sorry for not responding to your comment sooner! For some weird reason, they went to my spam folder and I didn't see them until today!!! So I'll respond to both of your comments here. 🙂
I know! It's been so long since we talked! I'm so glad to be able to talk to you again!
I'm doing fine. School is going. 🙂 It's going pretty well, actually. I'm on schedule, and my classes are not terribly hard. How about for you? Did you finish Ch2 before moving?
You're welcome for the tag! I'm excited to read your answers!
I will for sure be praying for you, friend. ❤ (Again, I am SO sorry for not seeing your comments sooner! ) I would just appreciate prayers for health and safety. Thank you for asking! 🙂 How can I pray for you?
The MCU soundtracks are WONDERFUL! I just started listening to the Age of Ultron one, and it's really good so far! My favorite is Thor, but I also really love the ones for Thor: The Dark World, Avengers, and Avengers: Endgame. (By the way…ENDGAME. *fangirl squeals forever*)
I have read Ember's End! My parents read it aloud, and we finished it a couple weeks ago. The ending was beautiful (No spoilers though!) 🙂 Let me know how you like it once you finish it!! I have some mixed feelings about certain things, but overall the book is really good.
I also just finished Twinepathy! Which I absolutely loved! It was just so much fun to read. 😀
I'm so glad that we're able to talk again! And I'll be praying for you. 🙂

Ohh, I thought that it might not have gone through because sometimes it doesn’t log me into my WordPress account automatically when I’m not in my reader, and sometimes I don’t notice. This week will be week 12, and we’ve been doing it over Google hangouts, which is ok, but I miss class so much.
Thank you! I will be praying! I’m doing much better in the missing friends area, I still miss them, but my mom said we will definitely go down when all of this is over and say goodbye. The
I’ll definitely let you know!
I love Albany, she’s so easy to relate to in a lot of ways, and seems like such a real person if that makes sense. 😆

Yeah, it’s definitely not the same.
Thank you!
She is so relatable! I feel like I would act pretty much the same way if I was thrust into a situation like she was . XD I also love Blaze (he’s basically Loki, with his illusions, snark, and constant mischievous grin, except without any of the scheming/meanness XD) and Anvil. I’m planning on ordering Lightporter soon, and I cannot wait!!

Ok, I’m finally (*finally*) getting to this tag!! Apologies for the delay, Amelie; one thing I’ve learned about myself since starting my personal blog is that I’m actually pretty bad at keeping up with tags :p
Also, nonfiction book recommendation right here! “Adorning the Dark” by Andrew Peterson (assuming you haven’t read it already; I honestly cannot remember if we’ve discussed it yet or not). It is SO good. I’m almost finished with it myself (I’ve been reading it for a month or two now, yes my focus has not been great lately, and quarantine hasn’t helped at all), but WOW. At least once or twice a chapter I’m highlighting and starring passages and making notes and going “Oh my goodness, this is common among creatives?? I thought I was the only weirdo who did that stuff!!” It is just excellent. I’ve been recommending it to everyone lately. XD

No problem AT ALL, Shay!! I totally understand, and I will not at all be offended if you decide to skip this one! 😊
AHHH, I MUST GET ADORNING THE DARK! I have heard such amazing things about it all over, and I cannot wait to read it! It sounds like such a wonderful, inspiring book.
