The Marvel Cinematic Universe Tag

Hey, everyone! I’ve got a super fun, fangirly post for you guys today. 😉 In honor of the release of Avengers: Endgame, Christine created this amazing Marvel tag! She so kindly let me steal it for my blog, and I am so excited to talk all about the wonderful and heroic MCU!

First, though, I have to warn you: there MAY be spoilers ahead. Nothing huge, but if you still want to see the movies, read on at your own risk! 🙂

endgame spoiler

And again, I am going put a disclaimer here that I do NOT in any way endorse some of the junk that’s in the movies. I do love many of the things about the movies, but I’d encourage you to look into them (Plugged In is a good resource) before deciding to watch. 🙂 Okay? Onward!

GUIDELINES:

  • Feel free to include the above graphic somewhere in your post (but it’s definitely not necessary).
  • Take the questions and answer them on your blog (or social media or wherever!).
  • Tag up to 5 other Marvel fans!

THE QUESTIONS:

1. How were you introduced into the MCU fandom?

2. What’s your favorite Marvel film?

3. Top favorite Marvel character?

4. If you were transported into the MCU and had to trade places with one of the superheroes, who would you choose?

5. What are some of your favorite quotes from the films?

6. Which crew would you want to be part of the most: Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, or Revengers?

7. Favorite and least favorite ship?

8. Favorite and least favorite villain?

9. Unpopular MCU opinion?

10. What’s your favorite Stan Lee cameo scene?

Let’s get straight to the fun! I’m EXCITED!

1.) How were you introduced into the MCU fandom?

I’ve heard about the MCU my whole life, mostly from going into stores and seeing all the superhero merch. 🙂 However, my cousin, my youth pastor, and a few of my friends LOVE Marvel, and so especially during my high school years, I’ve heard SO MUCH MORE about it. I really started to get interested this fall, and since we have Disney+, my family and I decided to start watching the movies.

Captain America: The First Avenger was fantastic. Thor (in my opinion) was even better. But after seeing The Avengers, with all its epicness and all the main heroes coming together, I was hooked.

2.) What’s your favorite Marvel film?

My absolute favorite film is definitely The Avengers, even after the EPICNESS of Endgame. The Avengers is just so awesome and so much fun. It’s the first hint of something big going on with the Infinity Stones, and I loved how the six main Avengers were able to push past their differences and rally together into a real team.

BUT I also love the following movies so much that I believe they deserve an honorable mention 😀 :

  • Avengers: Endgame
  • Thor: The Dark World
  • Thor: Ragnarok
  • Thor
  • Black Panther

3.) Top favorite Marvel character?

Loki.

That is all.

Okay, so, I am NOT saying that I always like Loki as a person. But he’s an amazing character with a backstory of such pain and isolation. He takes his pain out in all the wrong ways and often reverts to manipulation and scheming to get what he wants (and maybe to prove that he’s better than his brother Thor…). But. We have some people (Frigga is a wonderful mom, guys) who still love him and still root for him to make good choices, and deep down Loki does care and does want to be heroic. But he can’t quite make himself move past the pain and anger, especially at his father. He has such a back-and-forth journey, moving from bad to good, good to bad and back again.

And (SPOILER WARNING: SERIOUSLY, THERE IS A HUGE SPOILER BELOW) that makes us love him all the more in Infinity War, when he gives up his life for his brother and dies a hero, choosing to move past his anger and forgive his family.

(SPOILERS END)

He has one of the best character arcs I’ve ever seen. I always love a well-done redemption story, and Marvel nailed it with Loki. ❤

I also have a deep fondness for Natasha, Shuri, Cap, Thor, Nebula, T’Challa, Clint, Rhodey, Queen Frigga, Peggy Carter, and Lady Sif. 🙂 (There are so many amazing and lovable characters in the MCU!)

4.) If you were transported into the MCU and had to trade places with one of the superheroes, who would you choose?

I always think of Black Panther’s sister, Shuri, as a superhero, and I love her. So I would choose to switch places with her if I was transported into the MCU. Shuri is super smart and has a great relationship with her mom and brother, and she gets to live in Wakanda!

But, if you don’t count Shuri as a superhero, I would have a super hard time deciding, since all of the other superheroes have such traumatic, difficult lives! I love many of them, buuuut…I wouldn’t want to be them. 🙂

5.) What are some of your favorite quotes from the films?

Bwahaha, I love this question. Prepare to be buried in quotes and GIFs of the linguistic gold from these movies. 😉

“I assure you, brother, the sun will shine on us again.”

Loki, Avengers: Infinity War

“What’s up, Regular-Sized Man?”

Rhodey, Avengers: Endgame

“You must have missed something.”

“I didn’t! I’m pressing every button on this thing!”

“No, don’t hit it, just press it gently.”
“I am pressing it gently, IT’S NOT WORKING!”

Thor and Loki, Thor: The Dark World

“If you even think about betraying him…”

“You’ll…kill me? Evidently that will be a line.”

Volstagg and Loki, Thor: The Dark World
chris hemsworth thor GIF
“ANOTHER!”

“I used to have nothing. Then I got this. This job. This family. And even though they’re gone…I’m still trying to be better.”

Natasha Romanoff, Avengers: Endgame

“You will always be my sister.”

Gamora to Nebula, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Plus, Thor’s snake story and Thor and Loki’s whole “Get Help” act from Thor: Ragnarok are some of the funniest scenes/quotes there are. XD

“I could do this all day,” but I should probably stop for now. 😉

6.) Which crew would you want to be part of the most: Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, or Revengers?

Can I pull a Thor and be a part of the Avengers and the Revengers? I mean, if I was a Revenger, I’d get to go to Asgard and be on a team with (mostly) heroic Loki!

But…I think I would still have to say that I would want to be an Avenger because they were the team I loved first. And I would get to make friends with Natasha and Cap and Clint and Thor…yep, I would want to be an Avenger. (But I would probably get the job of lookout or something because I couldn’t even pretend to have the fighting skills of those six. XD) And if I was an Avenger in Endgame, I would get to be on a team with even MORE awesome people, including Rhodey and Nebula (two more of my favorites)!

7.) Favorite and least favorite ship?

FAVORITE: My favorite is absolutely Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter. 100%, period, exclamation mark!

From the moment that Steve and Peggy were talking in the car on their way to Dr. Erskine’s lab and Steve said that he was waiting to dance until he could find “the right partner,” I knew that they were perfect for each other. Peggy saw something special about Steve before he ever became the supersoldier, and he thought she was amazing from pretty much the moment he laid eyes on her. And throughout all his years in modern times, Steve always kept thoughts of Peggy close to his heart (*points to picture above*). I just…ahhh, I love them individually and together. ❤

Tony Stark and Pepper Potts are also pretty great, as are Peter Quill and Gamora. 🙂

LEAST FAVORITE: Pretty sure I’m echoing every Marvel fan, but Steve and Sharon.

Just…no. For one thing, they had no chemistry whatsoever, and…STEVE IS KISSING PEGGY’S NIECE?!?! Please no. I…really wish they had not done that because now whenever I think of Sharon, I think of that scene, and it makes me dislike her! Which I don’t want to do! Because she’s, overall, a pretty cool character. But I just DO NOT LIKE HER AND STEVE TOGETHER. *deep breath* Moving on…

8.) Favorite and least favorite villain?

FAVORITE: Okay, so, the villains that I actually end up LIKING are Ava from Ant-Man and the Wasp and Loki (I know he’s technically classified as a villain, but…I never think about him as a villain for some reason? In my mind, he’s an antihero because I usually think about Ragnarok and Infinity War‘s Loki *shrugs*). There are a lot of great villains, though, such as Ultron, Ego, and Hela.

But my favorite VILLAIN, as in intimidating, formidable, villainous villain, is Thanos.

HE MAKES ME MAD. But he’s a fantastic villain. He is incredibly formidable and strong (enough to best the Hulk with nary a thought, for example), and he believes, in a terribly depraved way, that he’s doing the right thing for the universe, which makes for an interesting twist. He wreaks catastrophe on a galactic scale and presents an incredible challenge for the Avengers and all the forces of good to overcome. It makes their victory so much sweeter and satisfying in the end. 🙂

LEAST FAVORITE: Alexander Pierce.

That man makes me angry.

He is involved in THINGS in The Winter Soldier. Many Evil Things. Alexander Pierce makes me angrier than any other villain I’ve ever seen. He is the WORST, y’all.

9.) Unpopular MCU opinion?

I LOVE Thor: The Dark World. (I mean, it’s my third favorite out of all the MCU movies!)

Yes, I know, everyone hates this movie. But for the life of me I can’t understand why! XD Thor and Loki are amazing, and the challenge of overcoming the Dark Elves is super formidable. I mean, they want to turn the whole stinkin’ universe into darkness! The whole Convergence business was super intriguing, and, in my opinion, this movie was completely necessary because it introduced the Reality Stone (otherwise known as the Aether). Also, the whole escape-from-Asgard scenes were pretty hilarious. XD

I also didn’t think that Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain Marvel were horrible? I like several of the other movies better than those, but I still really enjoyed them.

10.) What’s your favorite Stan Lee cameo scene?

“Tony Stank.” Priceless. XD

Some of my other top favorites are the hair-cutting scene in Thor: Ragnarok and the times when he’s on the buses in Doctor Strange and Captain Marvel. 🙂

And that’s the tag! I had SO MUCH FUN answering these awesome questions! If you’re reading this, congratulations on getting through all that fangirling. 😉

  2. GAAAAAAASP SOMEBODY ELSE LIKES THE DARK WORLD?!?!? I love that movie and I’ve always been a bit miffed that it got so much hate.

My favorite character is probably…eeeesh, so many…but probably Peggy Carter! I love both seasons of her show, too. And my favorite villain is probably Loki, in that he’s HIGHLY ENJOYABLE to watch…though Thanos is far more fearsome. Oh, and my favorite MCU movie is The Winter Soldier! Such a quality film; even if it weren’t a superhero movie, it’d be a great story.

  4. I really like the MCU too XD. Also, Thor: The Dark World was VERY good (and one of my favorites in fact). My favorite characters gotta be Thor, Captain America, Hawkeye, and Black Widow (it’s to hard to choose just one). My favorite movies are the first and second Captain America movies, all three of the Thor movies, Black Panther, and Avengers 🙂

  6. I LOVE LOKI SO MUCH I’M GLAD YOU AGREE. And I’d totally want to switch places with Shuri 😍 She’s the best.

I liked Thor: The Dark World just fine! I saw it when I was young, so it’s true I don’t remember much of it, but I really liked Loki and Thor’s character arcs. It kind of surprised me to learn so many people disliked it.
